We've created this warning to help ensure Creators are making the best decisions when it comes to how to present your games to customers. You'll find a list of current limitations between our Legacy Game Engine and the new Jumpgate Engine below. Roll20 will update this page as things develop.
Building your product in Legacy will work for users in both Legacy and Jumpgate, but building in Jumpgate may not work in Legacy.
For the time being, we recommend that marketplace products should be built using the Legacy Game Engine to ensure compatibility.

List of Compatibility Issues
While bugs do continue to be identified and squashed, there are two intentional differences between Jumpgate and Legacy
- Dynamic Lighting Lines - Several important updates on the backend of how these work on the VTT also unfortunately mean a compatibility issue that the Legacy Game Engine cannot support. That means that any Jumpgate game with Dynamic Lighting Lines in it will not appear correctly in a Legacy game, and are very likely to be messed up in unexpected ways.
- Tokens vs. Drawings - Improvements to how the VTT handles the technical differences between a token and drawings on the VTT also brings with it compatibility issues on Legacy. Certain settings available in Jumpgate do not exist in Legacy and therefore that behavior will be ignored, such as "Disable Snapping" and "Disable Token Bars" for example.
